ABOUT F.O. (Frank) Armbruster

Hi, I'm F.O. (Frank) Armbruster,

The family has always pronounced it ARM-broo-ster. Although according to the American English spelling/pronunciation algorithm it ought to be pronounced arm-BRUH-ster, my father and his predecessors always pronounced it ARM-broo-ster, so in deference to Pappy, Uncle Joe, Ernie, Paul, and Walter, my sons and I pronounce it that way.
Born in San Antonio Texas April 17, 1929, I feel more like a Californian than a Texan; I've lived more years in California than I've lived in Texas. But now I'm living in Colorado near Denver and I'm enjoying it.

Married August 20, 1950, I started working in the aerospace industry with Northrop Corporation in 1954 and left Lockheed in 1989, with some stops in between. Did a lot of interesting things, worked with a lot of fine people and a few knuckleheads. At one time or another, I've worked with all of the services, and been assigned to projects with most of the federal agencies. For a time I was in the "black world."

After retiring in 1989, I just sort of "hung out" for about a year. Then I got the itch to actually do something. I find it very difficult to not be busy. I formed the sales organization ARMBRUSTER ASSOCIATES. We sell machine tool accessories model airplane kits, and other stuff. I travel six states in and around the Rocky Mountains. I work strictly on commission, pay my own expenses, and that's the way I like it.

Because this is a personal page, you'll see a whole lot of first person personal pronouns used, if it irritates you, please forgive me. I know better, I just don't know how to eliminate them. I'll try to keep it interesting, in the hope that you'll keep reading.

Presently, I'm fascinated by Model airplanes, particularly rubber-band powered free flight duration models of the type known as WAKEFIELD. And recently I've begun to get Interested in Radio-controlled antique models and flying wing types. I'm also involved in photography. I read a lot. I do woodworking and machining. I have woodworking and metalworking tools in the basement and in the garage. I live by myself. The house is a clutter but it's not unsanitary.

I've done some inventing. All my inventions, Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, and Trade Secrets are owned by COLORADO BOOTSTRAP INC. Colorado Bootstrap also buys and sells things. This website is known as the COLORADO BOOTSTRAP website .

Some of my more recent inventions are THE GREEN WEENIE, TEENIE WEENIE, SUPER WEENIE, DENVER AIRPORT LUGGAGE LOCATOR, UNIVERSAL FISHING LURE, GOLF BALL FINDER, HIKER'S GUARANTEED RESCUE DEVICE, LOST AIRPLANE LOCATOR, and a few other silly things of that ilk.

My most profitable and famous invention was a 4 color cube puzzle known as INSTANT INSANITY. INSTANT INSANITY made the Guiness Book of Records in 1969 as the best-selling toy product of the year. I licensed it to PARKER BROTHERS. It outsold MONOPOLY that year.

If you want to know more about me, send e-mail. I'll answer as soon as I can. Just remember that I travel a lot and I'm sometimes on the road for a week or more at at a time. My real (birth certificate) name is FRANZ OWEN ARMBRUSTER. Most people call me Frank, some of my co-workers from the past will remember me as ZED, family members and friends from long ago call me Frankie-Joe; some others will know me as PANCHO. My CB handle is CHACO; the license plate on my VW van is CHCOVN, for Chaco Canyon in New Mexico. I have a great interest in the Anasazi culture there. If we've ever worked together or been in school together, please get in touch. There are many people I've known and lost track of that I'd really like to hear from .
